Cindy is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, earning a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology.
She is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern IMH6424 with the state of Florida; completing her practicum experience
at Halifax Psychiatric Center in Daytona Beach, FL; her internship at the House Next Door in Deland, FL; and was a contract
therapist with the Presbyterian Counseling Center.
Counseling is provided for individuals (adults, children, and adolescents), couples, and
families; addressing many of today’s problems including: bipolar disorder, depression, ADHD, anxiety, anger management,
addictions, phobias, survivors of childhood trauma including sexual abuse, communication and interpersonal relationship problems. Cindy
collaboratively works with her clients; knowing that they are the expert on their lives, but brings in therapeutic “tools”
to help create and maintain lasting, positive change.
Cindy uses Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, believing that thoughts and beliefs directly influence emotions and behaviors; tailoring
therapy for each client; using research-based treatment methods to fit the client’s specific needs. She is also trained
in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) which is a form of therapy that helps effectively decrease/eliminate the symptoms of post traumatic stress
disorder for the majority of clients. She also knows that most clients want to
include their spiritual beliefs in the counseling setting and weaves this throughout treatment. Cindy believes in
looking at all areas of a person’s life: body, mind, soul, spirit as well as family-of-origin experiences and external
factors such as career, finances and relationships. All areas should be explored to see how these may be contributing to the
problems at hand.
Cindy is a committed Christian who is involved
in the community (both locally and internationally), and is a voice for social change. She serves on the following Boards:
Halifax Urban Ministries (H.U.M.), Colombia ChildCare International (C.C.C.I.), The Cornerstone Broadcasting Corporation,
FastFood Ministry (FF.M.), and Homes of Hope International (H.O.H.). She is also recognized as being trained
by the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA); is a member of the National Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapists;
and a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.
“Bear ye one another's
